Throw the Bat Without Letting It Go | Hitting Feel Drill
Click HERE to check out Bonus Video: www.prospeedbaseball.com/secret-move-transition-visualization Throw the Bat Without Letting It Go | Hitting Feel Drill
The release is the most valuable mechanic in the swing.
The mechanics of the release are absolute...
...but how do we actually execute the release?
In today's lesson, we go over a great "feel drill" that will demonstrate the sensation great hitters have when they release the bat...
...so you can start feeling what elite hitters feel to start executing the optimal release in your own swing!
Thanks for watching and I hope to help you much more with your game in the future!

Secondary is horseshit. If you can't raise your bum as the pitch arrives, then you are not athletic enough to catch. Try jumping from both stances and see which is more athletic. Lose the secondary, perfect the primary.

First person to practice standing up. Please educate your brethren. Everyone else is clueless. Only mistake is the secondary. If you can't pick your butt up by the time the pitch arrives, then you lack the coordination necessary to be an athlete. Stay in yoir primary and explode up through the ball. Time them both and get back to me. Secondary is the worst sin on catching ever perpetrated. I

Almost Japanese coaches tell us not to use your hands but use your lower body and give power that was generated by lower body to upper body or hands. However, it's unnatural to hit the ball because you have to use bat with your hands. The most important thing in baseball swing is the way to use hands. Japanese coaches should watch this video. They don't know about swing plane and exact meaning of down or upper swing.

I played baseball. I can hit a baseball. I am now coaching kids on how to hit a baseball. I had no idea that I could not explain how to hit a baseball until I had to teach kids how to do it. “Just hit the ball!” is not a good coaching technique. This breakdown is going to change everything! You explain it in a way my brain just couldn’t process it. Thank you so much!!!

Hi I play baseball for fun It's been a while and I'm not confident in my batting because: That I hit with my right hand down and my left hand down and I'm even right-handed, I realized this when I concentrated well on the professional hitting of baseball players and I'm the only one doing it, is this hitting okay or do I need to correct it? Thanks.

How come you’re the only person who still teaches pushing the hands to the ball? Odd. Either you’re the smartest instructor out there or the dumbest. That’s a very old school method that video analysis has long since debunked. Time to get with the times. Just saying.

Revisiting this. Thanks for the this video. My average has dropped and power has significantly decreased over the past couple of seasons. My issues have been different to what you described but still from the same source, my hands don't seem to be slow to the ball but I keep getting out in from and toe ending it, getting lazy pop flies or huge top spin grounders to 3rd (my pull side). I think a lot of it is because there's no acceleration into the ball at contact so there's very little force (Or maybe starting earl to compensate for the slower hands). I'm burying my front shoulder too much so I rip it open and my power all leaks to the 3rd base dugout and very little gets behind the ball. On top of all this inside pitches feel very close because my shoulder is turning in and getting close to the plate, the outside pitch is also an issue because it feels far away from my hands. I think a lot of the teacherman hitting instruction style has caused this, trying to manipulate the swing into feeling like a lot of the pros look has made me feel like my swing needs to powerful. Dry swings after this makes it feel like my bat is quick and my body is doing very little. Not that the teacherman style is wrong, it seems to work for some guys but I think it caused me to over emphasise a lot of movements and swing my body rather than swing the bat.

My absolute favorite swing, I'm sick of seeing all the 'stop roll over' & 'palm up, palm down' through entire swing.. this was my natural swing and afforded me a varsity spot when I was an 8th grader and I hit 8 home runs at 115 lbs.. people now are hating on this swing. But back then, everyone wanted to know how I did it and I couldn't tell them.. well, this is exactly how people!

I love that you're animated and really care about the science. But it's flat out wrong! Based on slow motion and 3D analysis this is absolutely NOT what creates proper swing plane. Throwing hands down at the ball creates a terrible angle and produces missed balls, ground balls or poorly hit flared fly balls. The swing is a 3-dimensional disc that rotates around a spine axis that tilts slightly based on the pitch location. One example of this is a low pitch will have a higher follow through whereas a higher pitch will have a lower and flatter follow through. There's too much to accurately write without showing. Anyone who says to throw hands DOWN at the ball hasn't figured it out. Likewise no coach should mention launch angle when talking about bat path. Upward is also terrible (Richard Schenk). The problem with the majority of hitting coaches like Schenck is they haven't coached any teams. They haven't seen over and over again that his upward launch and Pro Speeds downward angle creates players that bat 9th consistently. They are cage coaches. Game coaches who've fought it out with struggling hitters at-bat after at-bat are the ones that know the truth about hitting. Go to Matt Antonelli. He's slow and sometimes boring, but spot on. Also Matt Lisle's videos will get you there at a price.

Why do we assume that he hits that ball so hard despite having weight on his back foot, rather than “because” of it. He is almost like those hammer throwers in the Olympics, that use centrifugal force to achieve maximum distance. He uses that to get the barrel launched into the ball. His body is the fulcrum, which is slighted tilted back on contact to create the optimal launch angle. The front foot stops the transfer of weight forward, so that the applied force to follow can all be applied up through the body from the ground, up through the barrel. When a car comes to a stop gradually, the force is dissipated gradually, so the objects in the car don’t get propelled forward as it does when you slam on the brakes or hit a wall. The front foot is the brakes, but we don’t want the force to transfer in a straight line. We want centrifugal force, applied to the bat which has to turn before it gets into position to impact the ball.
